Century, Chinguetti was an important landmark in the caravan road
and a great educational center. Its power of influence has
been beyond Mauritanian boundaries, thanks to the famous manuscript
of its desert libraries, the minaret of its mosque and its authentic
architecture. Mauritania used once to be called “Bilad Chinguetti” (Chinguetti

of desert, founded in the 12th Century, Tichitt has been
for a long time one of the most beautiful Medieval cities in North
West

Art of decoration, founded in the
11th Century, Oualata , as well as other
cities,
used to be an important axis of caravans,
that linked Sudan to the Maghreb.
The city has been known for its motives and
decorations that enjoy their great fame.
The city also holds the oldest mosque of sub-region.
